The Bioscope Library is now in four sections. For Books, the texts described are documents of various kinds on the production, reception and appreciation of early and silent films. All are freely available for downloading from the sources indicated. Journals covers periodicals from the silent era which have been digitised and are almost all of them freely available online. Catalogues and databases covers freely-available digitised printed catalogues and electronic databases that enable researchers to identify films from the silent era. Directories, listed chronologically below, covers film trade annuals, almanacs and directories, including a number from the post-1920s period that will nevertheless have information relevant to the silent period.
